The Point of Jazz is a jazz collective led by recent graduates of the music department at University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point. Every Thursday the group plays at Stone Arch Brewpub in Appleton Wisconsin from 7:30-9:30PM. They play a one hour set featuring that week’s guest artist, then open the stage for community members to join in on their respective instruments.
We’re excited to welcome back former Stone Arch Brewpub employee and guest favorite, Christian Dyble, for his "homecoming" jam! A talented multi-instrumentalist, singer, and composer from Janesville, WI, Christian’s love for music was sparked by the powerful scores of Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and The Lord of the Rings. His journey started with the trumpet in fifth grade and grew into a lifelong passion for jazz and improvisation.
Christian honed his skills at Lawrence University in Appleton, where he earned a B.M. in Jazz Performance and Composition and studied with an impressive roster of jazz faculty including Professor John Daniel, José L. Encarnación, Patty Darling, Bill Carrothers, Mark Urness, Matt Turner, Tim Albright and Janet Planet. Now based in Appleton, he teaches at the Appleton Music Academy and performs across Wisconsin, captivating audiences with his talent on trumpet, piano, harmonica, and vocals.
