Lou Shields has released a new album, *Old Riverside*, and will have vinyl records available at his upcoming show. A passionate steward of American musical traditions, Lou performs with vintage instruments like his 1931 National Resonator Guitar and incorporates harmonica, foot percussion, and storytelling to evoke the spirit of early Blues and Americana. Over a 20-year career, he has toured extensively across the U.S. and Europe, releasing nine full-length albums and 13 EPs. Lou’s musical journey began in Chicago, influenced by his father’s record collection and the city’s rich musical history. Despite overcoming a woodworking accident that partially impaired his hand, Lou adapted and thrived, deepening his connection to roots music through travels to Clarksdale, MS, and New Orleans. He’s also an artist and art professor, often drawing inspiration from his travels and his wife’s vintage photo collection. In 2015, Lou established an off-grid homestead in Wisconsin's Driftless Region, crafting buildings from reclaimed materials and hosting music gatherings in a barn built by the Amish. Splitting his time between Chicago, Madison, and Viroqua, Lou continues to balance city and country life while honoring his deep love for music, history, and community.
